Current Form

The Bats were beaten 2-1 by Real Mallorca away on 29 November as their two-match unbeaten run in the Spanish top-flight came to an end.

Valencia defeated Real Betis in their last home match in this competition as they snapped a two-match winless run at the Estadio de Mestalla.

Meanwhile, Vallecano suffered a 2-1 defeat to Athletic Bilbao at home on 1 December as they extended their winless run to three matches in La Liga.

The Vallecans are also winless in their last two matches on the road in this competition having registered two successive defeats as the away side.

Team News

Maximiliano Caufriez, Thierry Correia and Mouctar Diakhaby are all on Valencia's injury list, while Rafa Mir is suspended.

Vallecano, on the other hand, have no suspension concerns and the club is yet to report any injuries coming into this encounter.

Quotes

“The analysis has to be done based on the final result. It should have been a draw, based on what we saw. Mallorca were very successful in the two actions in which they had the opportunity to score, and we squandered a 0-1 advantage that we had," Valencia manager Ruben Baraja said after his side's defeat to Mallorca.

"If we don't understand that in the situation we are in, with how we have been suffering since the beginning of the season, then in games like today you don't hold on to those leads, and then everything is more difficult. We have to be self-critical and think that to get points we have to have a different character, experience the game in a different way.

"We lost concentration for their two chances. We have to make sure that this doesn't happen if we want to get points, especially away from home. The game was under control, there was no excessive danger from Mallorca and from two specific actions they won the game.”

Head-to-Head

Valencia and Vallecano drew 0-0 in their last meeting in La Liga in a match that took place at the Estadio de Mestalla on 12 May.

Therefore, the Bats are undefeated in their last three league matches against the Vallecans having recorded one win and two draws.
